Kouchner in Belgrade on Monday Print

28 February 2010.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner is to have talks in Belgrade on Monday with the highest state officials on bilateral cooperation. It has been announced in Paris that his visit has three basic goals – intensification of bilateral relations, support of France in Serbia’s EU integrations and the improvement of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. No matter how big the differences are, there are domains in which agreement has to be reached, with the help of EULEX, especially on the issue of the police, judiciary and customs, the announcement reads. He told NOVOSTI daily he was arriving in Belgrade to tell Serbian citizens France would support Serbia’s accession to the EU and would be active within the EU to accelerate that process. After Belgrade, Kouchner is to visit Pristina. He was the first head of UNMIK, from July 1999 to January 2001.
