On March 11, the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB) approved, under the new conditions of the agreement, the first tranche of 10 million Euros for the reconstruction of the bridge, "Gazela" in Belgrade, the bank communicated. It was stated that the decision was made at the request of Serbian authorities, taking into account the need for urgent reconstruction. The bank’s approval came after the recent decision of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance the access roads to the Gazela. Disbursement of funds from the EIB loan worth 33 million Euros and initially signed in 2007, was postponed due to the resolving of issues related to relocation of the Roma families living below the Gazela.
