Conference in Brdo near Kranj ended Print

20 March 2010.

The conference on West Balkans, without Serbian representatives, has ended in Brdo near Kranj with the adoption of the joint declaration, which appeals at the strengthening of cooperation among the countries of this region, whose common goal is the association with the EU. Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Phaor, who organized the gathering along with Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, has pointed out at the press conference that the meeting was successful because progress was made in understanding among the participants, reports the Slovenian STA agency. The gathering ended 45 minutes earlier than previewed, after EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele had left the plenary session. The electronic media have reported that the conference was also left by Chairman of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Council of Ministers Nikola Spiric. Prime ministers Pahor and Kosor did not explain  the reasons for Fuele’s decision to leave the session. Serbia did not have a representative in Slovenia due to the fact that the organizers had not accepted the suggestion of the official Belgrade to have Kosmet represented at the conference in line with UN Resolution 1244, i.e. as Kosovo-UNMIK, instead as a state that had unilaterally proclaimed independence.
