November 8, 2009

ImageLast night, the Vojvodina Assembly MPs adopted the legal and technical harmonization of the Vojvodina draft statute with the bill on establishing competences of the Province, which the Vojvodina Executive Council proposed in an expedited procedure. 105 MPs voted on the correction of the draft statute, adopted on October 14 last year – 84 MPs voted for it, 20 against, and one abstained. The adopted version of the draft statute will be drawn up by the Vojvodina Assembly Committee and forward it to the Serbian Parliament for approval. Serbian Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic earlier announced that the current session of the Parliament could be interrupted to start a new one to review the draft statute and the law on transfer of competencies of Vojvodina. Dejanovic announced that the statute and the law on transfer of competencies of the Province might be adopted later this month.
