New flu epidemics in the territory of Serbia Print

November 11, 2009

Image Health Minister Tomica Milosavljević proclaimed new flu epidemics in the territory of Serbia, upon the recommendations of the Pandemics Working Group. Initial measures include vaccination of three million people. Public health institutes will decide if schools and kindergartens will be closed down. Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović says that epidemics has been reported in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Cacak, Nis and Uzice. The proclamation of epidemics will not change circumstances essentially and specific measures will be applied only where it is necessary. Health centres in Serbia will obtain another 80 respirators next week. 258 cases of A H1N1 have been registered in Serbia to date, Public Health Institute "Dr Milan Jovanović Batut" announced.
