November 11, 2009

Mass departure of the remaining Serbs from Srebrenica, the Republic of Srpska, continues due to the pressure and discrimination exercised by the local Bosnian authorities, said President of the Municipal Assembly Radomir Pavlovic. He said that due to lack of rights and sense of threat, 10.000 Serbs who, after they fled from the territory of the Federation, found refuge in the municipality, left Srebrenica since 2000. when the Bosnians took the local power of. Pavlovic said that discrimination is most pronounced in the area of distribution of donated funds for reconstruction of destroyed housing units and employment in the municipal administration and public institutions. After the war, 600 Serbian and more than 2.500 Bosniak houses were reconstructed. In the past four years, over 300 Bosniaks have been employed, but not a single Serb, said Pavlovic.
