17 November 2009.

Image Ukrainian President Victor Jushchenko has expressed condolences to the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, regarding the passing away of Patriarch Pavle, while emphasizing that the Ukraine has lost a great friend, great connoisseur and admirer of the Ukrainian spiritual heritage, as well as a devoted supporter of the Orthodox unity. Holiness’ entire life represents a clear example of a true and dedicated service to God. The glorious image of arch-shepherd Pavle will remain forever in our hearts, underlined Jushchenko. A book of grieving has been opened in the Serbian embassy in Kiev, while the Ukrainian media announce the arrival of a high delegation of that country’s Orthodox Church to the funeral of late Patriarch Pavle.
