Djelic: Interim Agreement on December 10, followed by candidature Print
18 November 2009.

The Serbian Government expects the implementation of the Interim Trade Agreement  with the EU to start immediately after the summit of Union leaders in Brussels, on December 10, after which the candidature for the membership in the EU will follow, stated Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic. He added that the Serbian authorities are planning to have President Boris Tadic and the highest state delegation go to Brussels shortly after the EU decision to implement the Interim Trade Agreement, and to submit the application for the membership. Djelic has explained that after the lifting of the visa regime the Serbian citizens will be able to travel to EU countries without prior announcement and to stay for the duration of 90 days over the period of six months. He specified that after those 90 days, the Serbs will have to return home for three months in order to be allowed to enter the EU countries again.
